Ken Woodworth
Art Direction & UI/UX Design
I've been designing intuitive, user-focused websites for more than 25 years. In that time I've developed a design process that fosters exploration and collaboration, and delivers award-winning results.
I have a passion for design. I love crafting unique solutions that amplify brands, meet user needs, and achieve business goals. I also have experience leading strategy on major projects. I've worked with clients to establish project goals, understand user needs, and develop structure that will lead to success. On top of that, my background in front-end development has allowed me to create accessible, responsive, and standards-compliant websites on a number of projects. I've also managed designers, strategists, information architects, and front-end developers, and have served in a leadership role in an agency for over 20 years.
As the child of entrepreneurial parents, I learned the importance of building relationships and being flexible. My parents taught me that the best way to help a customer is to truly understand them. They also demonstrated a consistent ability to adapt to new challenges. I'm thankful for everything they've taught me and I put those lessons into practice in my work every day.
I'm also driven to support the design community outside of my day-to-day work. I've been actively involved in The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and have served as a programming director for the Upstate NY chapter. I ran a regular speaker series called "Refresh Rochester" which was part of an effort to bring together web communities nationwide. I've helped plan and organize Design4Drupal, a conference focused on design, UX, and front-end development for Drupal websites. I've also served as track chair for the UX Design track for a number of DrupalCons. Lately, I've put my efforts towards Create Upstate, a semi-annual design conference that brings designers of all skill levels and backgrounds together in Upstate New York. With my two co-organizers, we've run conferences and retreats that include speakers, workshops, design competitions, and collaborative activities.
I'm currently looking for my next role and would love to chat.

I've had the pleasure of working with a number of mission-driven organizations — from The Smithsonian Institute to The Environmental Defense Fund — and have loved contributing to the impact they're making in the world.
